The AFF Cup 2008 celebrations

The second leg of the final, at Mỹ Đình stadium, in the dying minutes: Công Vinh rose and headed it in. The roar went up from every alley, café and student boarding house at once.

Then the country took to the streets: three or four to a motorbike, flags waving, drums, horns and saucepans banging. Strangers high-fived like old friends. The phrase “đi bão”, riding out in the storm of celebration, was born on nights like that.

Do you remember? When was your first night out celebrating a football win?
