School days
Red Young Pioneer scarf
Receiving the red scarf was a big day of childhood. Tying it neatly took a lot of practice; some kids had their mum tie it once and just loosened it at night so they could slip it back over their head in the morning.
At the Monday flag ceremony the whole school stood in rows of white shirts and red scarves. Forgetting yours was a serious matter: student monitors at the gate wrote your name down and your class lost points.
Do you remember? Did you ever forget your scarf and have to borrow one from another class?
