Ball mouse
Turn the mouse over and there was a round cover; twist it off and out came a grey rubber ball. After a while the ball and rollers picked up grime, the cursor jumped, and even straight lines turned into zigzags.
Anyone who used a school computer lab or an internet café knew the trick: take the ball out, scrape the rings of gunk off the rollers with a fingernail, put it back, and it glided like new. The mouse pad mattered just as much.
Do you remember? Did you ever take apart a mouse to clean it?
