Flame tree flowers

When the flame trees bloomed you knew the school year was almost over. The yard turned red, the cicadas buzzed, and pupils picked up petals to press in their notebooks, arranging them into butterflies.

Flame tree red is the colour of goodbyes: in the final year everyone kept a dried petal in their autograph book, with a few lines promising to meet again.

Do you remember? Which flame tree season do you remember most?
