CD in a jewel case

CDs replaced cassettes: no rewinding, just press and you're at the song. The rainbow surface had to be held by the edges; any fingerprint got wiped on your shirt.

The disc shop down the alley rented films by the day and sold compilations of every genre. A scratched disc froze the picture and stuttered the sound, and the family sat waiting for the player to get past that bit.

Do you remember? Which disc did you play or watch the most?

A rainbow-sheened CD in a fragile plastic case: compilation albums, films rented from the shop, and one scratch made a song skip.
