Polls

Ask the group, send a link, done

Write a question, drop the link in your group chat; friends tap it and vote right away, no account needed. Results go up on a blackboard, tallied in fives like a school election.

  • Friends vote without an account (one vote per device), or limit it to people with an account
  • Single or multiple choice, named or anonymous, any deadline you like
  • Live results, and votes can be changed until the poll closes
  • Every link comes with a QR code to put up on a screen for a whole class

Polls and every ballot are deleted after 90 days.

Make an online poll, friends vote from a link

Write a question and the options, pick the voting rules, and you get a link. Friends tap it and vote right away on their phone, nothing to install and no account. Results go up on a blackboard, tallied in fives like a school election.

The person making the poll needs an account in The Attic (just a nickname and password, no email). Polls are deleted after 90 days.

How to use it

  1. Log in, open Polls and press New poll.
  2. Write the question and options; single or multiple choice, named or not, when results show, a deadline.
  3. Press Create & get the link and send it (or show the QR code).
  4. Watch the votes come in live and close the poll when you're done.

Why it's handy

  • Friends vote without an account, one vote per device; or limit it to accounts, one vote per person
  • Single or multiple choice, named or anonymous, hide results until people vote or until it closes
  • Votes can be changed or taken back until it closes; a deadline closes it by itself
  • A QR code for a classroom; the link shows the question when pasted in chat apps
  • Present the results on a big screen, save them as an image

Questions

Do friends need an account to vote?
No, unless you choose Only people with an account. Normally anyone with the link can vote, one vote per device.
Can people see who voted for what?
Only if you turn on Voters give their name; then voters type a name and everyone sees it. By default votes are anonymous.
How long are polls kept?
90 days from creation, then they are deleted with every ballot. You can delete one any time too.
Does it cost anything?
No. Polls are free and there are no ads.
