Strip Vietnamese accents, fix old fonts, tidy text

Paste text onto the typewriter's sheet and press keys: strip accents, make slugs, UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, old (hòa, thủy) or new (hoà, thuỷ) tone placement, collapse spaces, join lines broken by a PDF copy, sort lines in Vietnamese order, drop repeated lines. Select a passage and the keys only change that part.

Text from old documents in broken fonts (“ViÖt Nam”, “Vieät Nam”) is recognised and converted to Unicode in one press. Words, characters, sentences and SMS count update as you type; your text never leaves your device.

How to use it

  1. Paste or type text on the sheet.
  2. Press a key; select a passage first to change only that part.
  3. Open Find & replace or Old fonts on the clipboard beside it when needed.
  4. Press Copy to take the text with you, or Undo if you change your mind.

Why it's handy

  • Accent removal keeps case, đ becomes d; a slug per line
  • Old TCVN3 (.VnTime) and VNI fonts to Unicode and back
  • Accent-insensitive find: “nguyen” also finds “Nguyễn”
  • Counts words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, reading time, SMS

Questions

What happens to đ?
đ and Đ become d and D; every tone and accent mark is removed while letters keep their case.
How do I fix text like “ViÖt Nam”?
It was typed in an old TCVN3 (.VnTime) or VNI font. Paste it in and the tool spots it and offers to convert it to Unicode; you can also pick the font under Old fonts.
How are words counted?
Anything separated by spaces counts as a word, the way Word counts; a lone dash does not.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser on your device.
